A Land Trust Reading List
In the early days of the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy and then, later on, while doing the research for and writing Conservancy: The Land Trust Movement in America, I read widely on land trusts. Included were most of the books that have anything to do with land trusts, many magazine and journal articles, the more accessible graduate theses, and many sorts of publications put out by local and national land trusts. I continue to try to cover the literature (and would appreciate copies or reprints of relevant material sent to me at Biology Department, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo MI 49008).
I have thought that I should compile a list of useful readings for people interested in land trusts, whether as an object of study or for practitioners wanting a grounding in material relevant to their volunteer or paid work.It goes without saying that my first recommendation would be my book Conservancy. I will build up the list by posting additions as the spirit moves me, on no set schedule.
The entries in the Land Trust Reading List currently available are as follows:
1. Eliot, Charles W. 1902. Charles Eliot, Landscape Architect. [Posted 25 October 2003]
2. Rusmore, Barbara, Alexandra Swaney, and Allan D. Spader. 1982. Private Options: Tools and Concepts for Land Conservation. [Posted March 2005]
